Intuitive Eating
Intuitive Eating consists of 10 principles that heal your relationship with food, movement, and your body.
The roadmaps we’ve been given for our bodies all lead to Skinnyville (or Tone-ville), USA. The road there is tortuous and our GPS seems to always be taking the wrong exit, somehow we never get to where we are trying to go. Intuitive Eating helps you draw a new map. The end destination is not weight loss, instead the road to peace leads to the following:
Eating for physical rather than emotional reasons
Reliance on internal hunger and fullness cues
Body-food choice congruence
Compassion for your here and now body
Together, we will work to align your mind and your body so that they are no longer arguing with one another. We will replace shame and perfectionism with self-compassion. You will learn to trust that you can decide how to feed and move your body in ways that nurture it.
If that feels uncomfortable and scary, that’s okay.
Considering our cultural obsession with bodies and their appearance, it would be difficult to not feel scared. However, there is a way to break free from the constant obsession, criticism, and hopelessness that plagues our daily living.
