About Candace McArthur

Welcome, friend.

I’ll be honest: These pages are never my favorite thing.

I know this is usually the place where I am supposed to impress you with my knowledge, lots of letters behind my name, and my general “down-to-earthiness.” Sure, I’ll tell you about those things in a moment, but also, I want to give us all permission to not feel like we have to impress each other and just be ourselves.

I believe that in being ourselves, we invite others to freely be themselves. And that is what I want for you.

A couple of things you should know off the bat…

First, if you choose to work with me (keywords: YOU choose), I will be on your team.

I’m not just going to sit there and nod my head and smile. You will come into the office (or login for your online session) and know that I am for you – that I’m with you – that I see you.

I will remember all those little details of your life, like your best friend’s name, your first crush, and your weekend plans… because I genuinely care about what you share with me.

Second: Our work together will be guided by YOU.

You are the expert on your life and experience, not me. I will offer feedback and insights, and I’ll ask you lots of questions. You will have space to say the things you need to say; there’s no need to censor or hold back. This is your space, my friend.

I love working with women who want to change…

… who are ready and willing to “go there,” and are just so done with trying so damn hard to fix everything.

I find myself drawn to clients who tend toward perfectionism and struggle to give themselves grace and compassion.

I also love working with people deconstructing their faith, finding their way out of that path, and potentially forging a new one for themselves.

I love seeing women set free, free to figure out who the heck they are and maybe even more importantly, who they are not.

When I’m not in the office…

I’m a mama of two kiddos, and most days, we’re living on a prayer, eating frozen chicken nuggets, and (usually) arriving late for school drop-off.

And when I’m not doing therapy or making sure my children are alive, I am probably running or hitting up a local coffee shop or brewery.

And in my life, the windows are usually open, and there’s always music on in the background. And I’m always needing new music, so send me your favs.

The “stuff” that you should probably know…

I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work from The University of Texas in Austin, Hook ‘Em! And then, I went straight into graduate school at Texas State University and received my Master’s in Social Work in 2012.

I completed my clinical hours for my full license in 2019 (it took me a while, I had some kids during those years) and completed my Supervisor training in 2021. I also completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher training and am an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher).

Let me be a part of your journey…

I want to support you in owning who you are, reclaiming all the messy parts of yourself so that you’re more confident in the story you are writing.

Truthfully, I hope to work myself out of a job. I want you to look at me one day and say, “I am ready to move on,” and we will celebrate the heck out of that… because that will mean you have confidence in who you are and trust yourself to make your own decisions.
